Standard Model Shower Timer

The Standard Model Shower Timer is the recommended model which is suited for both Domestic and Commercial use. The Timer can be located anywhere within audible and visual range.
The standard model is available with a choice of domestic or commercial ‘face plate’. The commercial face is intended for situations such as caravan parks with more transient and one-off users who might not be familiar with the shower timer and require detailed instructions. The domestic face is less detailed and a more attractive option in situations such as the home bathroom where users are familiar with the shower timer after multiple use.

Installation
Connect the Standard model using the 12 V power pack (supplied) to a 240 V power outlet, which needs to be located outside the bathroom. A power outlet can sometimes be found in the roof cavity, servicing the ceiling fan.

How It Works
Once in the shower, push the ‘Start’ button and turn on the water. The hot and cold water taps still control the temperature and water flow, as per usual.
The LED visual display will then begin counting down your remaining available showering time in minutes. An audible ‘beep’ will occur at the completion of every minute.
At the 99 second point, the display will switch to indicating remaining time in seconds. To support this, additional ‘beeps’ will occur at 30, 20,10, 5, 4,3, 2, 1 seconds.
The water is then automatically cut off and the ‘flashing’ visual display will begin counting down remaining waiting time till the shower can be re-used.
Please note
Pressing the ‘Start’ button at any time during the available showering time or waiting time has no effect.
The shower head is not supplied. Your existing shower head remains in tact.
Or, to save even more money, replace your current shower head with a Water Saving shower head.
Programming
Pre-Program your available showering time choosing from 0 – 12 minutes.
Pre-Program your waiting time (between showers), choosing from 0, 15, 30, 60, 120, 300 second options.
For 3 seconds, the available showering time displays as a steady glow and then the waiting time displays in a flashing format for 3 seconds. This provides an adequate bathroom night light.
Power failure will not change these settings.

Trouble Shooting
Screen blank
Check that 12 Volt power is reaching the circuit board. No display when power is connected suggests reversed polarity. Remove the plug from the socket on the circuit board, remove the back of that plug from the 2 pin socket on the end of the lead and reverse it. The centre of this plug should be positive with respect to the sleeve of the plug.
Beeper screaming
The Start button is extremely sensitive and any distortion of the polycarbonate box can cause the button to activate which puts the timer in Programming mode after 10 seconds. About 10 seconds after that, the beeper will “scream” continuously.
If that happens :
- Loosen each of the three screws that secure the box to the wall by one turn and test again.
- If that does not rectify the problem, remove the box from the wall and check the terminal block where the wires to the solenoid valve are connected. Remove the screw that secures that block to the box and test the unit with the block hanging free.
- If the symptoms persist, the solution is to fit hard plastic shims (200 micron) under each of the four mounting points of the electronic circuit board. We can supply these free of charge by express post if required or you can return the unit for warranty claim.
Cold water feeding back into hot system
If there is significant difference in pressure between hot and cold water, this can be a problem when the user leaves hot and cold taps turned on after the shower is finished.
That can cause back flow when there are multiple showers and the hot water is cooled by the cold coming from those open taps.
- One solution is to fit a one way valve in the hot feed to the shower.
- Another is to fit the solenoid valve in the hot feed pipe only rather than after mixing.
- Thirdly, you can order our standard (heavy duty) model which will drive two solenoid valves, one in hot and one in cold feed pipes. The heavy duty Power Pack will also be necessary.
